Scene & Self Study
With Miriam Cummings
This class is an opportunity to sharpen the tools and techniques that make up a strong acting practice.
We will dig into powerful contemporary plays to explore character, connection, creative impulse, and performance techniques. We will explore how personal and creative growth are intertwined by getting curious about personal habits and patterns that block creative expression. Through playful exercises, profound personal reflection, and specific individual coaching, we will explore the craft of acting.
You will be met where you are at and gently challenged to expand beyond your comfort zone. You will build repeatable personal practices to take forward into your life.
Tempest Theatre & Film Society is a community-driven creative haven: a blackbox theatre. A blackbox theatre is a powerful space capable of transforming into anything we can imagine and capable of holding us as we transform. There are protocols and habits that are important to uphold to ensure that this space remains accessible, open, and safe for everyone working in it. These expectations and boundaries will be shared upon registration and discussed more in person during the first class.
