Tempest Theatre is committed to making its performances and programs as welcoming and accessible as possible.
This page outlines the physical access features of our venue, along with the ways we support guests who may require additional assistance. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can experience and enjoy the work we create, within the practical limits of our historic building and production space.
Physical Access
The main theatre level at Tempest is wheelchair accessible, including a fully accessible washroom. Ramp entry is available from the rear parking lot, which can accommodate up to four vehicles. Because this lot is usually reserved for production staff, we ask guests requiring ramp access or accessible parking to contact us in advance so we can ensure space for unloading and entry.
Most audience seating is on risers accessed by stairs. We accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility needs with ground-level seating at the front of the theatre. If you would like to reserve accessible seating, please let us know when purchasing tickets so we can plan your visit accordingly.
Some areas of the building, such as the lower lounge, are reached by stairs and are not ramp-accessible. Our staff and volunteers are happy to assist anyone who has difficulty with stairs by serving beverages or helping with other needs during your visit.
If you have questions about access or would like to discuss your visit in advance, please get in touch. We’ll always do our best to accommodate your needs within the realities of our space and safety requirements.
Financial Access
Tempest aims to make its productions, classes, and events as financially accessible as possible while maintaining fair wages for artists and staff. We offer a range of ticket prices across our programming and occasionally make discounted or sponsored tickets available through community partners. Patreon members also receive discounts and special offers.
Tickets may be purchased online or at the door; however, because seating is limited and many performances sell out, we strongly recommend purchasing in advance to avoid disappointment. All sales are final in accordance with our Refund Policy.
If you’re unable to attend a performance, you may transfer your ticket to another guest by notifying us before the event, in keeping with our broader ticketing and refund policy.
We believe that accessibility also means respect: for the artists, the work, and the shared experience of live theatre. Our commitment is to keep the doors open and the work vibrant for as many people as possible, while ensuring the sustainability that makes future performances possible.
